Kevin McCann (1904-1981) was born in County Tyrone, Ireland. McCann was President Eisenhower's chief speech writer and the author of Man From Abilene, a biography of Eisenhower published in 1952. His long association with the general began in 1946, when Eisenhower was named Army Chief of Staff at the Pentagon, and continued until Eisenhower's death in 1969.
